Steampunk Goggle Workshop - Queer Adult Prom Prep!

Details

Charleston's Queer Adult Prom is coming up quickly, and the theme is...
Gothic Steampunk!
Nothing completes a steampunk look like a pair of homemade goggles. I'll have some supplies and can provide some guidance on how to create your own steampunk goggles. If you have supplies on hand as well, please bring them!

We will meet in Hampton Park near the duck pond. This is the end closest to The Citadel campus. I placed the pin on the map to roughly indicate where we'll be. Look for a white tent and a bunch of nerds. Call or text me if you have trouble finding us. (843-687-4307)

Again, you do not need to bring everything on the list below. The most important pieces would be the goggles/bottle caps/mason jar lids, which will make up the eye pieces. (I'll have extras of those as well, just likely not enough for everyone.)

Some suggestions for what to bring:

  • Swimming goggles or lab goggles that you don't mind repurposing
  • Large plastic bottle caps from drinks like: large Tropicana Orange Juice, "Simply" juices, or Gatorade
  • Mason jar lids (for canning)
  • Scraps of faux (or real) leather
  • Small Cogs/gears/machine bits for decorating
  • flat, clear plastic for lenses
  • Super glue or a hot glue gun
  • Metallic paints and/or spray paints
  • needle/thick thread
  • velcro
