What we’re about
Have a seat and immediately join in the music making. These are fun, hands-on jams that bring people together to play a beautiful bronze-rich gamelan degung (orchestra) from West Java, Indonesia.
Establishing an inclusive group atmosphere is the goal; each note belongs in a sonic web with every other, firing the imagination. Whether you want to meditate and dream, or create grooves that move, it's musical fun for everyone regardless of ability, musical experience or age.
Toronto veteran music group and venue Arraymusic provides the space. They co-produce Meetups with Evergreen Club Contemporary Gamelan which donates the instruments and provides musical hosts. These instruments, which were used on the soundtrack of the Oscar-winning movie Life of Pi can now be regularly played by the community. Bring your friends. Meet new ones.
