What we’re about
Welcome to our Cohousing in Brussels Meetup group! We're a diverse group of individuals and families interested in the concept of cohousing—a model where residents live in private homes but share common spaces and resources to foster a sense of community.
By buying a unit in a cohousing development, you're not just acquiring a home, but becoming part of a unique, sustainable, and connected neighborhood. Here, we combine the independence of private living with the benefits of a supportive, collaborative environment 🏡.
Sustainability is at the heart of cohousing. Our developments prioritize eco-friendly features like energy-efficient homes, solar panels, green roofs, and shared gardens that reduce our collective environmental footprint 🌱. By sharing resources such as tools, laundry facilities, and vehicles, we reduce consumption and make a positive impact on the planet.
Beyond sustainability, what makes cohousing truly special is the caring, tight-knit community. This is a place where neighbours know each other by name, share meals, and support one another in times of need. We come together for regular events and activities—whether it’s apéros in the garden or workshops open to the neighbourhood—building a sense of belonging and trust 🤝. In a world where many feel disconnected, cohousing offers a rare opportunity to be part of something greater than just your own household.
Living in cohousing is like having a village within the city. It provides a peaceful, intentional way of living in an urban environment where everyone can feel connected and supported.
Whether you’re a single professional, a growing family, or a retiree, cohousing offers an opportunity to thrive in a space where community, sustainability, and care come first. If you’re looking for a place that combines the best of both worlds—urban convenience and rural camaraderie—consider joining us in this exciting, innovative living model! 🌟

About Cohousing The Reef
The Reef is a new cohousing in Jette. It is a sustainable and vibrant community that we are building together as a self-managed group. The project includes 23 units, with 5-7 still available (the exact number and characteristis of available units will be detailed in the meeting).
Ideally located near Place Miroir and just 10 minutes by bike from the Grand Place, The Reef offers the perfect blend of city living with a strong sense of community and sustainability.
Sustainability and future-proof living are at the heart of The Reef. We’re investing in state-of-the-art, sustainable building technologies like solar panels, heat pumps, green roofs, and rainwater collection systems to minimize our environmental impact. This isn’t just about creating a place to live; it’s about thriving in an environmentally conscious community that aligns with our values of green living and sustainability.
We in The Reef dream of building a true “village within the city.” We’re creating a welcoming, caring environment where neighbours can easily connect—whether it's through spontaneous encounters, having babysitters nearby, or sharing a meal.
We have planned a 1,000 m² shared garden, which will serve as a central gathering space for residents. Next to that, from yoga classes to a repair café, our multi-purpose room will be a hub for community activities and connection.
What makes The Reef truly special is the strong sense of community we are fostering. As a self-managed group, we are actively shaping the development and day-to-day life of our future home. We are committed to creating a space that is inclusive, diverse, and full of good vibes.
