Details

This walk starts at Cowleaze woods where from the end of April there is an explosion of blue as the bluebells come into bloom, we then head onto the woods near Christmas Common where there is another carpet of Bluebells. The wildlife is also excellent - this area of the Chilterns is now renowned for the huge number of red kites showing off their flying skills. There are also buzzards, woodpeckers, thrushes, finches, hawks and many other types of birds to be seen.

It is an undulating walk with a couple of short steep hills passing through some beautiful countryside including passing through Aston Rowant nature reserve before following a section of the Ridgeway and then back to Cowleaze wood.

8.5 miles (968 ft ascent) approx 4 hours.

The charge for the walk is £5 and due to the limit on number of places, is due when you sign up, places will be allocated to those that have paid.

For all walks with Chiltern Walks the payment is due when you sign up for the walk, please post a comment stating 'paid' in the appropriate walk so I know to look for your payment. I can hold a place for you for 24 hours, if payment is not received I will assume you no longer wish to attend and transfer you off the walk so others can attend. If you cancel more than 48 hours before the scheduled start of the walk please message me and I'll provide you with a walk credit for your next walk. All cancellations less than 48 hours before the walk will forfeit the payment.
