Newquay, South West Coast Path & Cornish Beaches – August Bank Holiday Weekend

A late August bank holiday exploring some coastal walks close to the very picturesque town of Newquay. Newquay is famous for its sandy beaches, surfing and the beauty of the Cornish coastline.
22nd August a short historical guided evening town walk (details to come). Start approx 6pm for an hour.
23rd August
A very scenic linear 12mile/19km hike northwards from Newquay along the South West Coastal Path towards and finishing at Porthcothan. We can get a bus from Porthcothan back to Newquay. Start timer approx 10am from the beach, return back via bus. The 6.46pm bus from Portcotan arrives at Newquay at 7.45pm (details to confirm nearer the date).
24th August
An 11mile/18km hike from Newquay south to Perranporth exploring the south west coastal path and Perran Beach. Start time 10am from the Beach return back by bus. The U1A bus at 17.30 gets to Newquay for 6.06pm (details to confirm nearer the date).
Monday 25th August
An 11mile/18km circular hike from Par exploring a section of the South West Coast path around Gribbin Head and past the remains of St Catherine’s Castle.
Par is served by a train service from Newquay. The 9.15am train from Newquay gets to Par for 10.04am and should be about £6.80 return. (details to confirm nearer the date).
There is the possibility of those that don’t want to do the walk to visit the Eden Project which is an hour walk from Par or a short bus or taxi ride. The Eden Project consists of two domes that house thousands of plant species.
Please be aware the walks for this weekend follow some sections of the South West Coast Path which is one of the most stunning walking routes in the UK but is also very undulating and reasonably challenging.
The walks may be changed or some of the logistics altered nearer the date.

Hike Cost/Meetup/organizer: £39 (organizer hike fee) or 13 if you just want to do each hike as a day hike. As this is a weekend away trip we need payment in advance, please contact the organizer by meetup message for details.
Transport and accommodation needs to be booked yourselves. Please do this ASAP for accommodation in particular. Many booking sites offer free cancellation and prices often go up nearer the date. Many hotel booking sites offer free cancelation options. Although unlikely if numbers signing up are exceptionally low this weekend may be cancelled.
Parking could be expensive in Newquay. If you don't mind walking there often free residential roadside parking in some areas on the edge of town. (please check for any restrictions).
Trains go to Newquay from London Paddington station.
