Hugellandschaft Adventure Ride May 30-June 1, 2025

Details

You guessed it, time for another reiteration of the Hugellandschaft Adventure ride encompassing Northwest Illinois and the Southern Driftless regions of Iowa and Wisconsin during the weekend of May 30-June 1, 2025. Plenty of elevation changes, twisty roads of every surface/condition, spectacular views provided you take the time to stop and absorb them and welcoming villages along the way. Scenic landscapes, parks, ferry rides, friendly farmers, verdant pastures, questionable haircuts and the charming tourist trap that is Galena Illinois. Once again, the base of operations and preferred lodging accommodations will be centered around campsite 89 at Palace Campground which is located on the north end of Galena. You are responsible for making reservations; Palace Camp website If all you need is a tent site without power or water, no reservations are required, they will never run out of tent space. Ever. I have almost 500 miles of tracks to enjoy over the three-day weekend that will get posted once I’m comfy with the final share version. Palace is full on equipped with ample shower space, mini golf, hookups, swimming pool, cabins for rent and favorable proximity to fuel, food and other services. Keep in mind that I keep organization to a minimum, so it is up to every rider to provide for themselves on their individual schedule. Things I do; 1; Provide some GPS tracks for you to load, make sense of and navigate. 2; Free morning coffee from my site 89 Keurig machine. 3; Have a selection of free commemorative stickers you can adorn your ride with. 4; Prepare and serve a Saturday evening meal of pork chops and related fixins. All my camp site recipes contain bacon so sorry; I have no vegan options. I will answer any questions, bring the laptop to field load a navigation device, provide some table space and share my electrical power if needed but beyond that you are on your own. If you can’t make it this weekend, feel free to ride the tracks when your schedule permits. Here comes the standard disclosure and explanation for any newbies. This is a gathering of like-minded enthusiasts, for the sole purpose of having fun. This is not a competition, please no wagering. There are dangers lurking everywhere and this weekend is no different. You will be on public roads that contain surface hazards, suicidal animals, oversize farm equipment, gawking tourists, snakes, hill folk on side by sides, crowded city traffic, grumpy entitled rich people who don’t like you driving by their multi million-dollar properties that were once productive farmland, broken glass, burning mattresses, driftwood, barnacles, ditch cougars and snares of Satan. Nuff’ said. Use your noodle, be careful, ride at your own risk, don’t put your face directly over the bag when you open the microwave popcorn and if you plan on ignoring authority, please, break only one law at a time. Remember, the best accessory you can add to any motorcycle is a healthy, alert, well-trained rider. If something unfortunate happens that’s your bad and we assume you have adequate insurance. Please respect the campground policies and other campers. Of importance is the fact that this event is free, no charge to anyone, because giving back is what it’s all about. Here is a link to the previous year event so you can familiarize yourself with this format. Hugellandschaft 2024 This event is big bike friendly but anything with wheels will work. Don’t be fooled by You Tube influencers, the best Adventure bike is the one in your garage. Come on out and enjoy time with great people.
