David O'Toole is a Free Software developer and lifelong computer hobbyist who has used various dialects of Lisp to create games and other projects. In this talk he will comment on his recent experiences "learning the ropes" of Squeak Smalltalk, submitting a small changeset for a new feature to the Algernon launcher, helping test out Sandblocks and reporting issues, and an educational project helping teach Smalltalk to a teenager by collaborating on a simple adventure game.
