SUMMARY
Join former Christmas lecturers Hugh Montgomery, Saiful Islam and others, as they recreate their best bits from their Lectures and delve into the impact of presenting the longest-running public science engagement Lectures.
In the 2007 CHRISTMAS LECTURES, geneticist Hugh Montgomery lead an exploration of human endurance and the very thin line between life and death. In 2016 Saiful Islam faced a big question - what is energy and where does it come from? How can we best make use of it? and How can we store energy to use later on?
For 200 years, the CHRISTMAS LECTURES have made science accessible to an audience of all ages through an exciting series of demonstrations and experiments. But how do you condense an entire field of study into a short series of televised talks? How does presenting the CHRISTMAS LECTURES impact your research? How has new research changed our understanding of the science?
In Past, Present and Future, a panel of lecturers will discuss their experiences at the Ri by recreating their favourite moments from their series and exploring the way the lectures shaped their career. They will also look to the future as they introduce the next generation of scientists, who will demonstrate the latest innovations and research, as we explore what has changed since the original lectures.
Full line up will be available soon. Panel is subject to change.
The livestream will go live at 6.55pm, and the introduction will begin at 7.00pm. If you register but miss the livestream, the video will be available to you via the same link for two weeks after the event date.
