What we’re about
Hello Everyone...
I'm changing the name because I'm changing the focus. Through my own experience in singledom that past few years I've learned that both hosting and attending singles events can be an exercise in frustration and disappointment.
I have since learned what I've known all along. the best way to meet someone and develop a healthy relationship is to get to know them the old fashioned way. You hang out with them for a little while, become friends and take it from there. So without drabbing on about the perils of dating in the new millennium, I just wanted to let you know that I am changing the focus of the group to mimic what I have been doing on the South Shore for a few years.
You see the new name above. The focus will be on hosting varied events in the Boston Metro area and beyond, with the sole purpose of having fun and making friends. You don't have to be single to be a member of the group but most of us will be and if romance happens then it's a bonus !
But let me be clear, this is not a dating site and I ask everyone to please be respectful and polite of the other members.
I am always looking for help hosting events and Ideas so please don't be shy. This is just as much your group as it is mine. So let's have some fun.

It's a beautiful time in the Berkshires.
So let's go camping. I'm taking the RV but there are plenty of campsites and even some cabins. This is also posted in my South Shore group
I'll be heading up on Wednesday night and will be staying until at least Monday. So book as many nights as you can make it.
You have to reserve your camping spot on ReserveAmerican.com
Don't wait. These dates will go fast. MAY 27th is the date we have to reserve for this weekend. Put it on your calendar for a reminder.
Last year I reserved spot no 46. I'm gonna shoot for that area again There are several others right on the water as well. 55-59. 30s are close too. reference the map.4 people are authorized per site, with 2 vehicles and 2 tents (or 1 RV + 1 Tent) are permitted. So please share your space.
I'll be hosting an Old Growth forest hike and quite possibly a Kayaking event. I'll post those as separate meetups just in case non-campers want to join us.
Any questions please post them in the comments. - In Search of the Great White Pine - Old Growth Forest Hike & LearnMohawk Trail State Forest, Charlemont, MA

When Europeans first settled New England in the 1600s over 90 percent of the land was covered by old growth Forests. Now there is only 1/10 of one percent left in all of New England. The Mohawk Trail State forest has a few old growth stands.
The Great White Pine is a New England Treasure. Long sought after by Kings and Countrymen for everything from Ship Masts, Homesteads and Furniture. There aren't many mature White Pines left.... But there are a few in Mohawk Trail State forest. These Majestic beauties stand over 150 feet tall and some are 13-14 feet in circumference at the base.
I don't have a PHD in forestry but I do have a love for these wonders of nature. So on our hike I'll talk about the history of our forests and how they have evolved over the past few centuries and why they must be preserved for future generations.
I will share all I know with you and I'm sure I'll learn from you.
This is a great video to get you started - I'll post some others as well.

Cell service is poor, at best, along the Mohawk trail. So please reach out early if you're going to be late. I would suggest to plan on arriving 30 minutes early so we can get moving on time. It's pretty easy to get to. The Mohawk Trail State Forest is righty on RT2 in Charlemont. We'll meet right at the front gate.
