What we’re about

Welcome to Blue Ridge Pride Happenings!
This group is about creating awareness of the many events we host including those events that are produced in support of our mission and vision.
We have a great deal of support in the mountain region that we cover from individuals, businesses, churches and other organizations. Keeping you informed is a priority so that you can become part of the Blue Ridge Pride Family!
Of course we welcome all of our LGBTQ+ community. Inclusion Y'all!

Our programs and projects often have events, virtual and in-person, that support our community. We are not just a festival! We have expanded our wings to include programs supporting documentation of the rich history in the region (Oral History Project), engaging our fast growing LGBTQ+ 55+ community (Generation Plus), providing information about the business community (Business Alliance), our monthly calendar with more information (Pride Portal) and more. This year we are proud to partner with Care4Children to address the need for foster parents of LGBTQ+ youth and bridge that gap so the youth are welcome, included and most importantly recognized for who they are in their journey. And of course we organize the annual Blue Ridge Pride Festival in September.
Our mission is to promote equality, safety, and quality of life for western North Carolina’s LGBTQ and allied communities, working as a united community through advocacy, celebration, education and service. We envision an inclusive community, where people are embraced for who they are and feel welcomed to engage and contribute.
Our goal is to serve as a valued partner, collaborating with WNC’s many community service organizations and companies that welcome and serve our community.  We seek to build the connective tissue that will enable this diverse and far-flung community to build a better future together.
Service Area: We seek to support communities in the following 23 counties:  Alleghany, Ashe, Avery, Buncombe, Burke, Caldwell, Cherokee, Clay, Graham, Haywood, Henderson, Jackson, Macon, Madison, McDowell, Mitchell, Polk, Rutherford, Swain, Transylvania, Watauga, Wilkes, and Yancey.

We welcome your involvement. We encourage you to support the many regional LGBTQ+ organizations who are working towards inclusion and acceptance for all.
