Chaque transaction sur le réseau Bitcoin émet des métadonnées (IP source, timing, chemin réseau…) qui, bien que distinctes des données on-chain, peuvent être corrélées et exploitées par des tiers pour ré-identifier les utilisateurs, tracer les flux ou compromettre leur vie privée.
Le protocole Nym, développé à Neuchâtel, propose une réponse structurelle à ce problème avec une architecture basée sur un Mixnet de nouvelle génération. Ce réseau décentralisé et résistant à la surveillance passive et active permet d’anonymiser les métadonnées réseau liées aux transactions Bitcoin et à toute activité en ligne.
Pour notre meetup de mai, MvL nous présentera NymVPN, un outil concret pour intégrer le réseau Nym aux usages quotidiens. Il expliquera en quoi cette couche d’anonymat renforce la confidentialité des transactions Bitcoin, et comment elle s’inscrit dans une démarche de souveraineté numérique.

Every transaction on the Bitcoin network generates metadata (source IP, timing, network path…) which, although separate from on-chain data, can be correlated and exploited by third parties to re-identify users, trace funds, or compromise their privacy.
The Nym protocol, developed in Neuchâtel, offers a structural solution to this problem with an architecture based on a next-generation Mixnet. This decentralized network, resistant to both passive and active surveillance, enables the anonymization of network metadata related to Bitcoin transactions and all online activity.
