Ballantyne Photography Club

A casual get-together over coffee. Bring your cameras, photos, and your questions. Or just come for coffee! This is not a formal meeting, just an opportunity to meet some fellow members in a relaxed atmosphere.

We have returned inside at Sunflour Bakery. See attached map. Please show your appreciation to Sunflour Baking Company for hosting our event by making a purchase. We can go inside the bakery in small groups to order.

If inclement/cold weather is forecast the night before, I may cancel the event.

Based on the Dorset coast of England we will have access to both the history and natural history of this stunning coastline. Our week will include visits to the Abbotsbury Swannery and Botanical Gardens; Corfe Castle, a 17th century ruin; Radipole Lake, an RSPB bird sanctuary; Chesil Beach, and numerous villages with quintessential thatch roof cottages. We'll explore the fossil laden beaches of this coast where fossil hunters have made astounding discoveries, and learn about the history of one of Dorset's heroes, Vice-Admiral Sir Thomas Hardy, who fought alongside Admiral Lord Nelson at the Battle of Trafalgar. We'll also see sunrises and sunsets....weather permitting!

Have you always enjoyed taking photos, but don’t know why the don’t quite turn out as you envisioned it? Perhaps you have a camera, but you use your phone instead because it’s too complicated?

This class is designed to help you get past those obstacles and raise your knowledge level on taking photos the right way.

My name is Joseph Hawk, and I’ve been a photographer for over 20 years, doing everything from weddings to portraits, fashion to fine art, and a bunch in between. I am the owner of the Ballantyne Photography Club, and I love helping people take better photos.

What you should bring:
-Your camera! (If all you have is your phone, that works too)
-Your manual, if you have one.
-Good shoes for walking in the park.
-Water/Beverage for the hot days.

**This class is weather dependent, if inclement weather occurs, we will meet elsewhere at the bowl.

What you’ll learn:
-The basics of composing a better photo.
-How to photograph a person or a group of people.
-Getting more familiar with your camera.
