SAP BTP CloudFoundry Мulticloud: benefits and tradeoffs

Multicloud isn’t just a buzzword—it’s a necessity. Here at SAP BTP CloudFoundry, we’ve been driving this strategy and applying it to our CF landscapes for years. Multicloud is part of our product’s DNA, with deployments across all major public cloud providers as well as private clouds, spread out over countless locations.
We’re proud of how agile our solution is, but we know it’s not all bells and whistles. To be truly cloud-agnostic, we’ve had to give up some of the unique features that some of the providers offer, in exchange for maintaining consistency across all of them. Today, we’re going to share some of the bold moves and (hopefully) bright ideas that helped us make BTP CloudFoundry run everywhere.

Vault - AWS integration for temporary credentials

Managing, storing, and rotating secret keys for our team members and CI pipelines used to be a real hassle. But we found a way to cut down on all that tedious work and boost security by no longer storing user secrets. All it took was combining a few of the services we already had into a smooth solution for getting temporary AWS credentials. Featuring AWS, Hashicorp Vault, SAP Identity Provider, and Jenkins—here’s how we made it happen.
