I am the mother of a recently-out 20-something trans woman. I've never been part of a support group, but would like to get together casually with other parents where we can air our concerns and support each other for our part in their transitions. Some topics might include our expectations of gender roles (how to develop a mother-daughter relationship post-puberty? Do I take her bra-shopping? Will my trans son want to buy a motorcycle?) What the heck does trans lesbian/gay mean? How can we keep them safe and be good allies, even if we are struggling with acceptance? What do hormones do? Parents of trans children have different concerns; this is a group for parents of adults, 18 and up.
