Lake Georgetown Multi-Length 6m to Falls, 12 m, 14 m, 17 m, or 23 mi long hike.

Details
Multiple Lengths to choose from 6 mile, 12 mi, 14 mi, 17 mi, or 23 mile.
Pretty view around Lake Georgetown...and whichever hike length you choose...they will all pass through scenic Crockett Falls ...always a crowd pleaser!
It's shaded all the way to Crockett Falls & for about the first 10 miles of the longer hikes. Then there is no shade for several miles. Last time a guy brought an umbrella hat...first we laughed at him...then we envied him!
I will go the distance with whoever wants to go the farthest.
The longer hikes are harder mostly just due to the heat and distance. The trail itself is pretty easy.
If you want to try the longer hikes but then change your mind there are a few places where you can catch an Uber back to your car at miles 12 mi, 14 mi, 17 mi. The first of these would be camp Tejas 12 miles from Cedar Breaks Park. No shame in it. Several us who have completed this hike have Ubered out on one of these hikes at some point.
For the long hikes you will need food & water or a way to gather and purify from the lake like a sawyer filter. There are also water stops along the way at the parks (but not at the two primitive parks so check the map before you start) .
All the hikers will start together at Cedar Breaks Park at 9:30 am. 2100 Cedar Breaks Rd, Georgetown, TX 78633 https://goo.gl/maps/sq5QTrf6mzvpBVFLA
From there we all hike around the cliffs of Lake Georgetown to where a natural spring feeds several small waterfalls at Crockett Falls.
At that point the 6mi hikers will turn around and head back to Cedar Breaks Park to complete their out and back hike.
The remaining hikers for the 12 mi, 14 mi, 17 mi, or 23 mile will continue on.
The 14 mi, 17 mi, or 23 mile hikers will take a shorter route across the box crossing which cuts about 3 mi off the 26 mi loop.
If you do the full 23 mi we will finish back at Cedar Breaks Park apprx 5pm
If you are doing one of the longer hikes please make a note in the comments so we can get a headcount for the various lengths. ONLY IF YOU'RE DOING THE LONG HIKES. If you're doing the short hike no comment necessary.
For the Cedar Breaks Park starting point. There is no fee to hike the trail however there are fees for camping so be sure to tell the attendants you are just there to hike. Once through the gate, make the first left into the parking lot for the trailhead.
It's not uncommon for parking to be full in which case you will need to park outside the gate and walk in. Allow yourself a little extra time.
We wait 10 minutes past the posted time and then we move out and you will never catch up to us.
We will hike this at a brisk pace...like 3mph. So the short hike should should be done in roughly two hours.
Water is available along the trail, but distance between water locations can be in excess of 5 miles.
We hike fast, and there are no planned breaks except to fill water containers. So if you are inexperienced or out of shape this isn't your hike. There are lots of groups that go slower.
If you like vigorous exercise and a challenge then you will love this hike.
We cross water and go off-trail occasionally. Lots of unsure footing etc. So if that bothers you... then an easier hiking group will probably suit you better.
But if you're an experienced, sure-footed, athletic hiker you will have a great time and a good workout.
Let's have fun. Make new friends. And get some exercise.
