NOTE: We are meeting at a different venue for this Tuesday. This is also a fifth Tuesday so we’re continuing our tradition of having a game theme. This time around, it will be Easter. So please come along to play boardgames, enjoy the company of fellow boardgamers, and keep the gaming happening in an Easter sort of way.
WHO ARE WE?
We are a group of gamers who provide an informal, safe, and friendly space for the regular playing of board games by folk of all ages and types. We have been meeting and playing boardgames in the Mt Albert area for twenty years now, meeting on the second, fourth, and when they occur, fifth Tuesdays of each month since 2nd November 2004.HOW OFTEN DO WE MEET?
Because Tuesdays are a really good time to play boardgames, we meet on the second, fourth, and when they occur, on the fifth Tuesdays of each month.
WHEN AND WHERE DO WE MEET?
We meet from 7 pm until 10 pm. For this Tuesday we are meeting at the Mt Albert Senior Citizens Hall, 3B Wairere Avenue, Mount Albert, Auckland 1025, as our regular venue is being refurbished.WHAT SORT OF GAMES DO WE PLAY?
The games we play range from simple fun games to cunning games of strategy. We play games like Settlers of Catan, Isle of Cats, Carcassonne, Power Grid, Ticket to Ride, Azul, Agricola, Dominion, Tsuro, Bohnanza, Everdell, Puerto Rico, Ark Nova, Calico, Saboteur, Sushi Go, and Wyrmspan, amongst many others. But don’t worry if you don’t know how to play a particular game, someone will teach you.IS THERE ANY COST?
We ask for a $5 contribution towards our venue hire and maintaining a small games library. This can be paid in person by cash on the night or deposited to bank a/c 02-0100-0586563-067. First time visitors are not asked to contribute the $5.ARE THERE ANY OTHER MEETING GUIDELINES (GAMERS LOVE RULES)?
1. Please bring along games and fellow gamers.
2. Keep it safe and fun. People of a variety of ages and dispositions come along to enjoy playing board games. Please do the same and keep your behaviour welcoming and friendly.
3. A contribution of $5 is requested. This assists with paying the venue hire, and maintaining a small games library. If you wish to borrow a game between meetings, there’s a book to record the game, your name and contact details. Just bring the game back to the next meet.
4. People bring along their valuable games for others to share - please take care when playing their games and ask permission before using one! It is the responsibility of everyone who plays a game to assist with packing it up and making sure that no pieces are missing.
5. You are welcome to bring along food and non-alcoholic drinks. Please take your rubbish with you and leave everything clean. If you are there at the end of a game, please help to pack up games, tables and chairs.
6. When choosing "one last game", please remember that we need to vacate promptly at 10pm due to our hire agreement. Also, please remember that those locking up may have family to care for and work to do on Wednesday morning.
7. Generally these have not been problems, but it's worth stating explicitly as new people come along.
8. Please continue to spread the word and invite others to join us.WHERE CAN I GET MORE INFORMATION?
