Te Muri Regional Park Loop

Details
Greetings Everyone - Te Muri Regional Park is a peninsula formed between the Te Muri-O-Tarariki Stream to the north and the Puhoi River to the south. It it sandwiched between two parks you are more likely to have heard of, Mahurangi West and Wenderholm.
We are going to start in Mahurangi West, walk south and cross the estuary into Te Muri. Then we complete a big loop, which on All Trails is called the Te Muri Farm Track. Looking at the topography of the area I'm expecting some fantastic views over the estuaries, peninsulas and out to the sea. We should reach an elevation of 138m at our highest point.
Most of the track on this hike is going to be farm trails but will also include beach, gravel tracks and maybe a section through some forest.
On this hike we cross the Te Muri-O-Tarariki Stream twice. Low tide is around mid day. We will be looking for the lowest water level point to cross each time. I have managed to get across here before without getting my feet wet but that was probably good luck in the middle of a dry summer. You should come expecting to get your feet wet. We can stop to allow people to remove boots, cross and put them back on.
Assuming there is still time towards the end, after we cross the estuary again, we can head out to Cudlip Point before heading back to the cars.
On the way back to central Auckland we will stop in at the famous Puhoi Pub for some well deserved refreshments.
Duration: About 4 hours hike including stops.
Distance: Approx 10-12 km.
Difficulty: 2.5 on our 1-5 scale for day hikes.
