Welcome to the Asperger's (Autism Level 1) Musicians Group
Are you an Aspie (Autism Level 1) musician? Do you appreciate being straightforward and honest? Do you use music as a way to connect with others and express your emotions without needing to socialize with small talk? Are you seeking a supportive space to connect and trade tips, hacks, and workarounds with fellow musicians who understand your unique experiences and challenges, such as sensory and social burnout? Are you looking for Aspie-friendly environments to jam and participate in open mics? Join us at the Asperger's (Autism Level 1) Musicians Group, where we celebrate our unique perspectives and support each other's musical journey.
About Us: The Asperger's (Autism Level 1) Musicians Group is a supportive community where Aspie musicians can connect with like-minded peers, share musical insights, exchange sensory and social tips, hacks, and workarounds, and explore our shared interests together.
Our members include:
- Individuals diagnosed with Asperger's (Autism Level 1) who are professional, full-time, part-time, or hobby musicians.
- Musicians seeking tips, hacks, and workarounds to navigate sensory and social challenges for a happier and healthier musical journey as an Aspie.
- People eager to share their musical gifts and strengths within the Aspie community.
- Those looking to connect over music in a supportive and Aspie-friendly environment.
What We Do: We host a variety of meetups where we facilitate discussions on topics crucial to our community. These include navigating sensory challenges during performances, improving communication in band dynamics, setting boundaries for artistic and personal well-being, managing stage anxiety, tips and strategies for attending concerts and gigs, and maintaining mental and physical health as a performing or touring Aspie musician. These sessions provide a platform for sharing practical tips, life hacks, and personal experiences tailored to the needs of autistic musicians. In addition, we organize Aspie-friendly jam sessions and open mic events, providing opportunities for members to showcase their talents in a supportive environment. We also feature guest speakers—Aspie professionals and fellow musicians—who specialize in relevant fields, offering expertise through discussions and Q&A sessions.
Group Rules:
- No need to prepare scripts. The host will guide the conversation.
- Name stickers provided; no need to remember names.
- You can leave at any time without explanation. Just say, "I will be leaving now. Goodbye."
- To ask a question or speak, raise your hand. The current speaker will point to you when ready to pass the floor.
