Halò! Ciamar a tha sibh? 👋🏼 This is the meetup.com group for An Lòchran, the Glasgow-based Scottish Gaelic charity!

WHAT WE DO
We run events several times a week, mostly at An Lòchran, 22 Mansfield St, Partick G11 5QP, so that Scottish Gaelic speakers can use / practice their Gaelic, meet others who want to do the same, and help keep this beautiful language alive and strong!

WHO WE'RE FOR
Although most of our events are for speakers who are semi-fluent, fluent or native, we do also run some events for beginners! Examples are the weekly guided reading sessions (more info here) and Andy's monthly "A1+" all-levels event.

We also run monthly creative writing competitions for our beginners and learners, so check that out here.

Our overarching goal, though, is to provide an environment where Gaelic can be used as a first language, ahead of English. This may sound a little brutal, but it's necessary if Gaelic is going to go from strength to strength (or bho neart gu neart, as the Gaels say!)
