Let's Paddle Grayson Lake and Camp at Carter Caves!

Details
Let's check out the Grotto and hang out on Grayson Lake! We'll also camp at Carter Caves.
If you don't know about Grayson lake, you're in for a treat. The picture above is the Grotto and the place that everyone goes to see. We'll explore that and more at one of the most beautiful paddles in eastern Kentucky. I normally run this adventure in August. However, I have never seen any of the other waterfalls running. I'm hoping that will change this year.,
Details:
We'll meet at the Clifty Creek boat ramp at 9:00am eastern. We'll get our boats to the water, our vehicles parked, and then we'll enjoy the day.
In addition to the Grotto, Grayson lake has cliffs reaching 100 feet, many waterfalls, and excellent animal watching around the lake. Waterfalls depend on recent rain this time of year.
After we launch, we'll make the journey to the Grotto to enjoy the view along with some amazing photo ops. Afterwards we'll head out and explore the lake, look for some waterfalls, and find some places to swim and hang out along the way.
The paddle to the grotto and back to the ramp is approximately 5 miles. Our exploration of the lake will add a few more miles. Bring snacks, lunch, and all the other things you need to enjoy a day on the water.
WARNING:
The meeting LOCATION on the event is the boat ramp that we'll be launching from and the MEETING TIME is Saturday May 17th at 9:00 am eastern.
This is an OPEN WATER paddle with little to no shade. Please be prepared with hat, sunblock, and fluids.
This time of year temperatures can exceed 90 degrees and be HOT and HUMID!
Please know your abilities and prepare for a safe and fun day!
CAMPING!
I'm heading up on Friday so that I don't have to make that drive in the wee hours of the morning and I'm staying at Carter Caves. I reserved sites 119 and 120 in the primitive section that we camped in last year. I have limited space on my sites. If you would like to share one of them, please let me know as soon as you can. I'm also staying two nights and I'm planning on doing some hiking or possibly paddling Tygart's Creek while I'm there. You're all welcome to join me! I'll have a fire and some tall tales to share. I hope to see you all out there!
If you don't have camping equipment or have wanted to try camping without the expense of buying equipment, I have camping sets for rent. They have a tent, sleeping bags, chairs, etc. Message or call me for details.
If you're camping or coming in early enough, we'll meet for breakfast at Tudor's Biscuit World in Grayson, KY on Saturday morning. The food and service are great here!
If you have any questions, comment under the event or send me a message on Meetup or Facebook.
