Please join us at the Durham Hotel (http://thedurham.com/) to sew head scarves to benefit the Duke Cancer Patient Support Program, which offers counseling, support groups and a wig and turban program to help patients and families cope with the impact of cancer on their lives.
We'll provide the knit fabric for you to create brightly colored headscarves to donate to DCPSP. Any fabric donations you have for this cause are welcome, too!
All ages and all skill levels are welcome to attend, so please do bring your children and your friends! There is plenty of cutting and pinning to be done in addition to simple sewing, so help in any way you like. This event is floating, so come when you can and stay as long as you like.
The Greenhouse will be providing several sewing machines to share if you do not have your own. Please let us know if you'll need to borrow a machine. If you have your own sewing machine, we encourage you to bring your own!
If you'd like to bust your stash and make some turbans or headscarves to donate ahead of time, you can do so by following these simple instructions (http://www.sewing.org/html/turban.html)! We'll provide these instructions and supplies at our sew-in, too! You're welcome to drop your turbans at Spoonflower anytime before or during our event!
Don't forget to treat yourself to The Durham’s lobby coffeeshop, which will be open for coffee, tea and pastries.
We look forward to seeing you at the Durham Hotel (http://thedurham.com/) to sew for a great cause!
