What we’re about
This group is for professional web and application designers and developers looking to network with others in the industry, learn about new or emerging technologies, and for anyone looking to learn web and or application development (beginner to advanced).
We talk design, share experiences with use of different tools & languages, critique sites & apps, talk industry, business, employment news, and share motivations and inspirations. This group is intended to become a hub for all today's technologies that make up the Internet as we know it.
We meet monthly in informal settings (usually over coffee, drink and /or food) to network and socialize with other fellow web development professionals and enthusiasts and listen to 1-2 member-led presentations about various programming topics.
Wanna speak? Get in touch! Our meetings usually last about 2 hours leaving two 30 minute spots for speakers. All we need ahead of time is a title and short description of your talk.

6:30 pm - 7:30 pm: Hunter Lovvorn - Build & Deploy a Free, Serverless AWS Web Application - WORKSHOP
Confused on where to even start on AWS? Don’t worry, everyone starts there. In this workshop, we will walk through the process of taking a newly created AWS account and leveraging AWS’s homemade infrastructure-as-code framework to create our infrastructure quickly! The CDK code, web app, and supporting ‘back-end’ have all been created for you. We will simply walk through the process of setting it up on your own account from start to finish, with many stops along the way to fill in the blanks on what services are used and how they fit together. This will be a high-level overview with much of the content coming from questions and discussion.
Required Hardware:
- A laptop with either WiFi or ethernet connection.
- An up-to-date web browser. According to AWS, it must be Chrome, Firefox, or Edge (3 latest versions) or Safari for macOS (2 latest versions)
- Admin/root privileges are not required
Prerequisites:
- Create an AWS account. If you already have one, I suggest creating a new one using a different email and credit card. While we will be leveraging free tier resources, a valid card will need to be used during account set up.
- Create a GitHub account. If you do not already have one, create a GitHub account. The repository being cloned is hosted on GitHub. Once forked, we will also be using GitHub actions to build and deploy our application.
