Ambleside is a popular hub in the heart of the Lake District and a great location for our weekend. Our accommodation is right on the edge of Lake Windermere, the longest natural lake in England offering spectacular views across to the Langdales on a good day. The hostel has been undergone a programme of refurbishment and renovation and offers modern facilities, bar and restaurant.

September in the Lake District is a good time to visit, as it’s less crowded now that the Summer holidays are over meaning less traffic on the roads and less people on the hills. So come and join us for what will be a very enjoyable weekend.

The weekend will offer the best of both worlds, to get out walking enjoying the beautiful scenery in the Lake District and to practice yoga. There will be four yoga classes led by Yen, a fully qualified yoga teacher and personal trainer and there will be walks on both days led by Kevin, who is a fully qualified Mountain Leader. We both live in the Lake District and are also qualified in outdoor first aid.

The yoga will be suitable for beginners and those who have practiced before. Sessions will take place on the Saturday and Sunday, before breakfast and after we return from our walks. The general focus of the morning sessions will be to energise and warm up the body for our walk, and in the afternoon, will be to stretch out those tired muscles and relax the body. A limited number of mats will be provided for your use but feel free to bring your own mat if you prefer. Any queries regarding the yoga sessions, please contact us.

We can walk directly from the hostel each day and within a short time it is possible to be far removed from the hustle and bustle of Ambleside, in the fields and fells with sheep grazing up high. On the Saturday, there will be a full day walk, and a slightly shorter one on the Sunday. Suitable walks based upon the weather conditions at the time will be chosen and might include Loughrigg fell and Grasmere via Rydal Water – both with links to William Wordsworth.

Walks are graded moderate, with approx walking time 6hrs and distance 9-10miles for the Saturday, and slightly less on the Sunday.
