Punxsutawney Phil may be the most well-known groundhog in Pennsylvania but we have a whole family of the furry and friendly critters right here at the John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge at Tinicum. Families of all ages are invited to join "Tinicum Tim" and his family, representing the many actual groundhogs that live at the Refuge, in celebrating Groundhog Day on Saturday, February 1, 2014, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

Our Groundhog Day Family Festival features family-oriented fun and hands-on activities highlighting the history of Groundhog Day as well as refuge critters, groundhog walks, children's craft activities, costumed characters, live music and light snacks. The fun culminates in a parade to "Tinicum Tim's" burrow. Will Tim see his shadow? Will he predict an early spring or six more weeks of winter? Be on hand to find out and have a great time!

This event is FREE and open to everyone, organized and funded by the Friends of Heinz Refuge.
