What we’re about
Charlotte Runners, founded in 2007, is an all-volunteer run group with the mission to combine RUN with FUN to encourage both runners and those wanting to start running to participate in this great sport.
We have runners of all levels and experience, from ultra-marathoners to those just starting out and trying to make it past those first couple of miles...we've all been there!
We started the concept of combining RUNS with social activities (FUN!) when we kicked off our first weekly Thursday night run back in December of 2007 in Plaza-Midwood out of The Common Market. While the other weekly runs we have added over the years have changed as organizers come and go, the Thursday Night flagship run in Plaza-Midwood is still going strong after 16 years - but it's now held at The Legion Brewing every Thursday at 6:30pm!
Most of our runs have moved to Facebook and Instagram accounts for their updates and you will see this posted in the meetup descriptions (that's why you don't see much on the RSVP list). We also have an official FB page: https://www.facebook.com/CharlotteRunners/ for more information about our weekly runs!
Come join us!

Join us at Resident Culture Brewing Company every Wednesday at 6:30, rain or shine, for a run through the heart of Plaza Midwood, one of Charlotte’s most beautiful neighborhoods. Outside of very short stretches at the start and finish, this run takes place completely on low-traffic neighborhood roads -- with NO MAJOR ROAD CROSSINGS. This is the perfect year-round run, well-lit for the darkest days of winter and well-shaded for when the thermostat starts creeping up in the summer.
You can view the running maps for both courses on Strava:
5 Mile: https://www.strava.com/routes/11282604
3 Mile: https://www.strava.com/routes/11282761Best of all, plenty of great beer* for post-run mingling. And as an added bonus, every Wednesday Resident Culture has their Neighborhood Tap where one beer, different every week, is only $4. *For those who prefer something other than beer Resident Culture has an extensive wine selection and ciders from Good Road.

PARKING: GO DIRECTLY TO OVERFLOW LOT
Because the onsite parking lot at Resident Culture is very small I recommend going directly to the overflow lot, where there is always plenty of parking. Signs at the entrance to Resident Culture will direct you to the overflow lot.BE SAFE! While the course is well-lit during the winter months please wear reflective gear and headlamps. Just because you can see the car does not mean the car can see you.
3-mile and 5-mile courses will be marked with a R35 along with an arrow at every turn. Turn-by-turn directions will also be provided. All paces are welcome.
- "The Legiondary Run"The Legion Brewery, Charlotte, NC
* 4.3 Mile Run (original CR Run!)
* 5K (3.1 mile)
* 2 MileWe meet at Legion Brewing every Thursday night at 6:30 pm for a 4.2-mile run through the Plaza/Midwood neighborhood. We also have a 5K and 2-mile option! All routes are available in the "RunGo" app under "Legiondary Run."
Yes, this is the legendary Plaza-Midwood running route made (in)famous by countless runners for nearly two decades! Come experience that fast first mile downhill, but don't get fooled… the seemingly endless Mecklenburg Ave. grade awaits you.... and nobody ever forgets Nassau Hill on the climb to "The Top!" It's a challenging run, but the course is well-marked and all paces are welcomed.
But if you are new to running or don't feel like doing the whole course we have a 5K (3.1) and 2 mile option!
The best thing is that all routes lead back to Legion Brewing where we get to hang out afterward to socialize - and enjoy Legion's great craft beer!
