What we’re about
309 Westies hosts West Coast Swing social dances and lessons located between Philadelphia and Lehigh Valley, PA.
We strive for an environment that is safe, welcoming, and fun for beginner and continuing dancers at our social dance events.
Leaders and followers wanted. No partner needed. We are a friendly bunch and mix during the lessons and dances.
No experience needed. There is a beginner lesson before each monthly First-Friday dance and 4-week beginner series starting monthly. We will teach you to West Coast Swing! Or if you already have experience, fantastic! Come dance with us.
We welcome dancers of all ages. However, if you are under 18, you must bring an over-18 chaperone with you.
We welcome all genders, gender identities, races, ages, sexual orientations, abilities, physical appearances, body sizes, religions, dance levels, and so on.
Good social dancing happens from a place of mutual respect and kindness and we ask that attendees embody these values at our events.

This class is designed for the brand-new beginner. No partner or prior dance experience needed. We will cover steps and skills to get you started in this super smooth and cool dance. The class will cover basic 6- and 8-count patterns, stretch and compression connections, connecting to the music, and starting the dance. Plus much more to have you dancing like a true west coast swing dancer!

Missed class policy: If a student has pre-paid for a 4-week session and misses one or more lessons during the session, 309 Westies will provide a discount voucher to the student for the amount of missed lessons to use toward enrolling in a future 4-week session. Other Info:
- You will need flexible, smooth soled shoes that stay on your feet. Dress shoes with a leather sole work great. No flip flops or slides. No sneakers and boots with big treads that grip the floor.
- Wear clothes that you feel comfortable moving in.
- A water bottle encouraged.
