๐ 50 Years of Brussels Metro: Behind the Scenes at Jacques Brel Depot
Jacques Brel Metro, Brussels, BE### Car-Free Sunday Special โข Hidden Brussels โข Urban Exploration โข Social Meetup
Ever wondered what happens behind the closed doors where Brusselsโ metro trains sleep, get serviced and prepare to roll out each morning?
For the 50th anniversary of the Brussels Metro (1976โ2026), STIB/MIVB is exceptionally opening the gates of the Jacques Brel Metro Depot in Anderlecht โ a huge industrial site that is normally closed to the public.
And thereโs another reason to join us: itโs Car-Free Sunday in Brussels.
Come discover a hidden side of the city with Sunday Vacations, meet new people and enjoy an easy Sunday morning together.
Solo joiners are absolutely welcome. ๐
## ๐ EXPERIENCE OVERVIEW
This is not a typical museum visit.
Weโll meet at Jacques Brel Metro Station before the depot opens and head inside together to discover the infrastructure and technology that keep Brussels moving.
The depot covers around 6 hectares, giving us the opportunity to explore maintenance areas, metro equipment, historical displays and other behind-the-scenes spaces made accessible for this special anniversary event.
Afterwards, weโll regroup and continue the social side of the morning with an optional drink, lunch or relaxed walk towards the canal.
Thereโs no pressure to know anyone beforehand โ many Sunday Vacations participants join on their own.
