What we’re about
Welcome! I'm so glad you found us... Welcome to our community. Our group is alive and well and growing by leaps and bounds. We host both online and live events, mostly but not exclusively in the Orange County area.
As of 2022, I am leading transformational groups to Greece in September and once in Costa Rica in June. Please check out my travel website at lesbiangetaways.com for trip info. I would love it if you joined the mailing list. This separates out our special announcements from all the other meetup emails which can be overwhelming at times. The occasional emails will come from Lesbian Getaways.
I have been so touched by the intimacy and connections that are being created ongoingly through our group interactions. Lots of close friendships and circles have been made and yes, even some romance! I try to mix it up and keep it interesting and I’m always open to new ideas and feedback. My commitment to every member is that there are no "outsiders" and all folks that identify as a woman loving women are welcome. I believe that the experience of feeling welcome and included is palpable in our group events whether live or on Zoom.
For FB users, please follow us (facebook.com/somanywomensolittletime/). If you would like to be part of our secret FB group or our So Cal Lesbian Pickleballers group, please email me at lesbiangetaways@gmail.com and let me know. Once in, you can invite your friends directly from there.
I ask that you please set your notifications at minimum to receive organizer messages and new event announcements. This has to be done while actually on our group site. You can find the settings by clicking on your round profile photo on the top right corner and select email and notifications.
I am so looking forward to meeting you whether it be online or in person when that time comes.
With Enthusiasm,
Your organizer, Jody

Excerpt from the website:
Here's the thing: if you haven't known how to make lesbian dating work for you, you're not alone, and it's not your fault. Whether you've been out for a long time or are new to dating women, lesbian dating is intense, vulnerable, and often confusing.
Although queer dating is a learnable skill, it's not intuitive. When you try to just "follow your heart," it's likely to lead you straight to heartbreak, for reasons you'll learn all about in Lesbian Dating Essentials.
It can be hard to even find women to date -- especially where there's not a big lesbian or queer community. Someone can seem right on paper, but you don't feel a spark. Or, when you do feel a spark, you might ignore the red flags and end up in something toxic.
You deserve better. And you can have it! It just takes learning how.

- Let's Read... Scaredy CatLink visible for attendees
Hello book lovers! Let’s read and discuss – Scaredy Cat by Robin Alexander. Blake Taylor isn't the queen of horror, but she's certainly a member of the royal court. Blake has made a career out of writing novels that make her readers want to leave the lights on at night. What Blake's fans and very few people realize is that Blake Taylor is scared of her own shadow and just about everything else. After a family intervention, a case of writer's block, and the desire to be free of the confines of fear, she leaves New York and rents a house in Cypress Glade, Louisiana.
Quinn Scott, a local, is hired by Blake's agent to be a tour guide of sorts for her most famous and troublesome client. The job seems simple for a thousand bucks a month, but as she gets to know Blake, it's anything but easy. Birds, squirrels, broccoli, and dogs are fearsome creatures.
Find a comfortable spot, visit Cypress Glade, and watch as these two women learn to conquer fears that don't always go bump in the night. Be warned, a few feathers may fly . . . Contains mature themes
NOTE: It appears to be only available on Audiobooks, and it can be read on Kindle (You do not need a special Kindle...you can download a free app). I did see it listed on Amazon, but upon closer look, it is not the same book. And a different author. Amazon glitch. You might be able to find it at the library. ** I am listening to it on Audible, and the narrator is fabulous!
? pages. (7 hours and 30 minutes on audio.) Plan accordingly.
Facing fears is scary! And sometimes a bit funny! Jo Jo 😊
NOTES FOR MEETING
Please be prompt, at 6:30 pm Pacific, and plan to stay until we close out as a group or at 8:00 pm Pacific. We open with a short icebreaker within a few minutes of the start time, which is great for getting to know one another better. Arriving late or leaving early “individually” can distract the group discussion, so arriving on time and staying until 8:00 pm Pacific, is appreciated. We do occasionally stay later but if you need to bow out then, no worries. And…we could finish early. (Early has not happened, but I am just saying it could. Lol.)
* It is a social event so please have your video ON. It is also for transparency and peace of mind for all our members in this Zoom world.
WHERE: Zoom - Attendees will receive a private link and password on the day of the event. I will post a comment when I have sent it. Please do not share or post the link or your password.
Make sure your Meet Up notification setting for email is on for this group. (If you saw this book discussion announced via email, your setting is on. ;))
WHAT TO BRING
Bring your sweet self, any notes you want to share, and your favorite beverage. :)- YES RSVPs, if you can't make it, please take a moment to change your RSVP to NOT GOING asap. It is just a courteous thing to do. :)
** If you are new to Zoom, watch this video. Make sure to watch the video to the end. (A little over 5 minutes.) A senior does a great job of showing the various items you will want to know about. It is easy! Really. https://youtu.be/kh50kVaIdAY
