Great Egg Harbor River -- Weymouth Forge to Lake Lenape

Details

Join us on the southern branch of the Great Egg Harbor River, a 7+ mile trip. Notice the 10 am start time.

We will start at the Weymouth Furnace Park and head down the Great Egg Harbor River. We will cross Lake Lenape and paddle around to the boathouse and beach area.

This is a good trip for intermediate paddlers, not recommended for new folks due to debris, hazards and current water height. Guests are welcome! This is typically a 4 hour paddle trip, approximately 7 miles.

The river is winding and running high. There haven't been many portages on this section of the river, but we may need to cut down debris. Always strainers on the Egg, so life jackets are a must.

There is usually beautiful flora and fauna along the way and historic sites to be seen. We will be stopping along the way for lunch and dipping in your toes.

REQUIREMENTS:
-water
-sunscreen
-hat
-lunch
-pfd (life jacket) -- this is mandatory!
-change of clothes
-hand sanitizer or wipes
-face mask (for when not on the water)
-personal pen for signing in
-a flexible approach to the new normal!

PLEASE REVIEW
This is a joint trip with Outdoor Club of South Jersey and Mohawk Canoe Club.

There are specific rules for attending, including updated rules for shuttling. Please be sure to read these here: https://mohawkcanoeclub.org/forms/TripRules.pdf
Your attendance on the trip indicates you have reviewed and agreed to these rules.

OCSJ Guidelines include:

  1. Paid members are given priority. Guests can come for their first trip, but may be bumped to the waiting list. You will receive an email if that is the case.

  2. Everyone must wear a mask WHEN NOT ON THE WATER and appropriately social distance. Please bring a mask, hand sanitizer or wipes and a personal pen to sign in with.

  3. Shuttle will be organized among participants, but it is important to note that is not part of the club activity. Getting into a vehicle with other people is a personal choice, and masks are strongly encouraged!

  4. If you have RSVP’d to attend and cannot, please be courteous and cancel so others can attend. Do this at least 24 hours before activity start time.
