Saddlesore 1000 – Iron Butt Challenge

Details

**UPDTAED 3/22/23**
Since we have many riders signed up for the challenge, the Iron Butt Association (IBA) has issued special permissions to us for this ride. Please read entire ride description as it has changed. The meetup time has also changed to 5AM. We no longer need to have Spotwalla or a tracker on our phones and no one will need to fill out a sheet for each stop. Each rider will only need to take a picture of their gas receipt next to their odometer at each fuel stop. We will submit our ride as a group ride to the IBA. Each person will need to fill out my sign-in sheet the morning of the ride. That sheet will be submitted along with the verification they have requested. If you get separated from the group, you will need to submit approval for the ride separately, hence the pictures at each fuel stop. I will not need anyone’s pictures; they are only in case you get separated and need to send them to IBA for verification. Once you become an IBA member, there are no yearly fees. Below are the fees associated with certification, patches, certificates etc. Once the ride is complete each rider will have until Sunday April 9th to send the money for the package they want. I will have several ways to accept payments such as by check, cash, Zelle, PayPal, Venmo, etc. They will all be listed on the detailed route that will be given to each rider the morning of the ride.
Verification, with certificate only $45.00
Full package (Certificate, patch, IBA plate back - saves $6) $54.00
Full Monty! (Certificate, pin & patch, IBA plate back – saves $7.25) $61.25
Have you ever wanted to become an Iron Butt Association (IBA) member? You now have your chance. We will be attempting a group Saddlesore 1,000, which is 1,000 miles in under 24 hours. This ride is very unique. We will meet up at Lifestyle Cycles at 5am but for this ride DO NOT show up with a full tank of gas. Our start time will be the time stamp at our first gas stop which will be down the street from Lifestyle Cycles. Once we fill up, we have 24 hours to finish 1000 miles. At each fuel stop you will need to take a picture of the gas receipt next to your odometer. You will need to be able to travel 160 miles on a tank of gas. Gas stops will be time limited. We will be as patient as we can but will not wait for stragglers. We will not have a chase van or trailer so you need to have your bike in tip-top condition with AAA tow service paid up. A turnaround trip to Winslow, Arizona is the goal. A detailed route will be given to each rider the morning of the ride including each fuel stop. The last fuel stop will be the ending time of the challenge. We will plan one lunch stop in Winslow but most food and drink will need to be consumed while at fuel stops. The lunch stop will be 1 hour and a park is available if you pack a lunch and there are also a few restaurants available. If you are not already an Iron Butt Member you cannot join until you complete your first ride. Once you become an Iron Butt Member your name is added to the list of Certified Ride Finishers so anyone can verify your accomplishment. This is a great way to get into long distance riding if you have ever considered it. This is NOT a race. We have plenty of time to finish this challenge so all traffic laws will be obeyed.
