What we’re about

This group is about RELEASING your art somewhere in public, for someone else to find. It's about committing random acts of art through CREATING art and LEAVING your original art piece in a public place for a stranger to take home!

I hope our monthy themes offer inspiration to create in ANY medium, ANY interpretation :) Happy creating!

Guidelines:

Simple...make art, release art! Share the art you are making for future releases here and/or on our Facebook page (www.facebook.com/groups/CreativeRelease)! Get the excitement growing about your art, giving hints about where you will be releasing it, until the final moment when you can actually release it! You just might have a few fans that will run out to try to get it before someone else! Fun!

Participate in our online ZOOM Art Shares highlighting the monthly theme for a little camaraderie and to share art you have been making for release!

Please share any updates, especially if you have been contacted by a lucky recipient regarding a past release! A rare and special outcome indeed :) Fingers crossed!

Please do not use your art within this group to promote sales/business. Let’s keep the simple act of giving with no expectations on both sides, allowing a lucky recipient to delight in the discovery of receiving your art :)

Feel free to create as many art works a month as you wish, or as little as you wish. The third Sunday of each month is simply a date to remind you to participate! Have fun with this, do this!

PLEASE READ the GUIDELINES and the NITTY-GRITTY below before participating. Any violations of the guidelines or nitty-gritty may result in your removal from the group. PLEASE READ THIS: By joining this group you agree to hold the organizers, assistant organizers, and other members harmless and not liable. By participating in our meetups and activities you are responsible for your own health and safety and accept and voluntarily incur all risks of any injuries, damages, or harm which arise during or result from your participation in any Creative Release Project meetups and activities.
-----------------------------------------------------
The Creative Release Project was inspired by Rosa Murillo’s Found Art Tuesday (F.A.T.) project, & the thrill of leaving your art in a public place for someone else to find & keep! As an avid participant in F.A.T., I wanted to reach out to local creatives to participate in the spirit of creative release, and possibly make someone's day. So, after a year of releasing art I began the Creative Release Project in 2009, in an effort to bring the spirit of these releases to the Coachella Valley. I hope you'll participate where ever you live and visit, near or far.

Feel free to make art on site, or as a piece you bring with you and leave behind. Have fun with it, create beautiful work, and venture forth in committing random acts of art! You may never know who will find it, or even when or if your work will be found :)
Whether your art is photography, sculpting, writing, painting, drawing, beading, crocheting (you get the idea), it’s time to fulfill your creative release by sharing your work with others--with no expectations in return.

**Please post your releases, it inspires others and may generate more participation...which means more ART out there! Be sure to include date and place of release, especially when posting photos.
**It’s up to you whether you leave your contact e-mail on your piece or release anonymously. You can add use the Facebook group link for those who found your piece and just want to check in and let us know where they found your art.
**Please share any updates, especially if you have been contacted by a lucky recipient! A rare and special outcome indeed!

NITTY GRITTY:
**Please do not use your releases within this group to promote sales/business. Let’s keep this a simple act of giving with no expectations, allowing a lucky recipient to delight in the discovery of found, unexpected art w/no upselling. (Posts unrelated to releasing/finding art may be removed. Repeat offenders may be blocked.)

**Be creative in your releases too, but I don’t recommend putting you, your artwork, and of course recipients in a situation that could bring about any threatening, unsafe, illegal or otherwise undesirable outcomes—that just negates the whole point in creating a good experience! (For example, you probably shouldn’t leave something that would be considered a suspicious item at the airport, or place something down an abandoned mine, on the train tracks or a highway, capisce?!) Creative Release Project nor any of its organizers are NOT responsible for you, your art releases, or people/animals who find your art.

**Questionable releases. I do not wish to be a part of censoring any artist for their artistic expression. I do need to consider the audience of our events and releases, which have always included all ages, including minors. Also, with releasing in public places, we have to assume minors could come across our art. Fine art nudes are totally fine for example (responsibly releasesd), however I would like to make the distinction of anything that could be considered "erotic art" or "erotica" be discouraged as releases--only with regards to this particular group. Simply because this is not an adult only group. There are great MeetUp groups out there specific to this style of art. Creative Release Project nor any of its organizers are NOT responsible for you or your art releases, nor do we condone art/releases that could be legally questionable or blur the boundary into straight up illegal and/or inappropriate distribution.

**This group is not promoted as street art or like expression. There are plenty of other GREAT groups dedicated to street art! Any artwork released and shared here should be independent pieces and not cause damage to or deface property, and be safely, legally removable by anyone who wishes to take it home.
