What we’re about
Since November 2011, we gather once a month to listen to talks from speakers making the "internet of things" happen in the UK and elsewhere.
Current organiser: Alexandra Deschamps-Sonsino (2011-2020, 2025-present)
Past organisers: Dominie Roberts (2020-2025)
What's the internet of things?
The term was coined by Kevin Ashton in 1999 and it boardly describes what happens when you make it possible to gather data from the physical world or let the physical world be affected by things that happen online. That could mean: smart city infrastructure, smart grid applications, quantified self and wearables, open source hardware , environmental data collection, smart home products, connected consumer goods and more.
