What we’re about
Maryland Separation Church and State brings citizens of the city and state together to defend and support the constitutional barriers between our secular government on the one hand, and religion on the other.
Doing so prevents religion or any particular religion from gaining an unfair advantage over politics and the law, while minimizing government interference in religious affairs.
This work is necessary because various religious elements are constantly striving to break down these barriers in efforts to gain undue power over citizens whose opinions may differ from theirs.
We are a local chapter of the national organization 'Americans United for Separation of Church and State'.
