6:15 PM - Arrive & mingle - To enter the Toowong corporate tower wait at Gallery Level (GL) elevators next to Catch Wonderland for A&G staff volunteers to let you up (GL elevators are the same level and closest to the entrance coming from the Toowong Railway Station in the centre) - Map uploaded to event photos and an older one is available on https://brisjs.org/#findus - Please note, once we start, I don't have a good way to check messages since my phone is used for recordings.

⚛️ Hooks are Why Your React App is a Dumpster Fire - Tyson Brown (LinkedIn) - 20min
Here's Tyson's Take: React spent a decade reinventing what .NET shipped in 2006, and botched it. Hooks aren't an architecture, they're the view layer cosplaying as one. Redux, Zustand, Jotai, Signals: five state libraries in ten years isn't innovation, it's a smell. You keep migrating because none of them fixed the actual problem. MVVM did, twenty years ago. ViewModels, dependency injection, observable state, logic you can test without rendering anything. Your /hooks folder with forty files in it is your codebase admitting it needed an architecture and got primitives instead.

The upper and lower car parks in Toowong Village are open until 10:30 at night, leaving plenty of time for you to leave after the event. BrisJS is wheelchair accessible from the taxi rank, car parks, and train station, but please note the train station is only wheelchair accessible via the street after the centre closes at 9pm.
