What we’re about

Code, make, learn, and share knowledge every month in Bangkok, free of charge. Any level, any language.

For over a decade we've fostered a welcoming cross-cultural community of hackers in and around BKK. Come learn a new technology, take your first steps into programming, build a device, work on your hobby project, share what you know, or just meet local peers. In a relaxed but hands-on setting.

"Hacker" can be an intimidating term—don't let it be, it's really just about curiosity, and trying things.

This Meetup group focuses on participatory events—hacking is doing, not listening to presentations. Bring your own projects, a book or course to work through, contribute to open source together, ask questions you encounter in your day job or study.
Rally for your hack ideas

If you've got an idea for something you want to make or learn about, post it on the list for our upcoming meetup—maybe someone else is into your idea too. If you have questions or want to introduce yourself, try our chat on Gitter anytime.
Wondering if you need some background knowledge?

First-timer wondering how to get started with programming? Or a new language? We have prepared a resources repository to help give you ideas of where to start. Coming to hack nights with a little bit of background preparation will help you get the most out of hands-on practice time and asking peers for help with questions you've come across.

These events are a good chance to catch-up with friends and colleagues, and to learn about new and emerging technologies as well as classic systems and approaches.

This month: "Confessions of a Hacker & Phone Phreak from the '80s & '90s"

Using the nom de guerre of Larry "Bud" Melman, this high schooler in the late '80s embarked on many adventures and misadventures interacting with computers, telephone systems, and other hackers (some infamous, most unknown) in ways not originally intended. For the first time this person will publicly share his experiences and stories - sometimes getting into the "tech" but mostly focusing on the culture and experience of the original hackers before there were even laws against most of it.

Learn about the New Year’s Eve when phreak and his group encountered twin blond gals from Melbourne, Australia who got caught up in the adventure - even though none of these guys could get a date! Come ready to ask questions or share your own stories - just as long as the statute of limitations has run out!

A big "thank you" to our sponsor, biggestlab.io for sponsoring Pizza Mania pizzas (best in BKK) so we can enjoy the gathering event more!

We look forward to seeing you there!
