About us

This is a group to unite all women interested in learning about the great opportunities to get into fly fishing. All skill levels are welcome. We have a single gender mission but welcome all interested in promoting women fly fishing. I started this group to share the many resources available in our area to learn more and go fly fishing with other women. We'll learn about local fly fishing clubs and their events as well as create events of our own. We'll offer GoToMeetings formats as well as schedule get togethers at local retailers. Making women feel welcome in the local fly fishing clubs and meeting other women that want to have fun with this is my goal. Come join me.....

Join us for an unforgettable night of fly-fishing films featuring monster fish, stunning cinematography, and storytelling that fuels our obsession with trout. This year, the tour highlights Fly Fishing Collaborative (FFC) and their mission to make a difference through sustainable solutions, all guided by their motto: Fish Well. Do Good. Additional sponsors supporting the tour include Airlite, Water Master, Revel, Abel Reels, and Trout Unlimited, helping bring this cinematic celebration to communities across North America. Rocky River Trout Unlimited Monthly Chapter Meeting

Rocky River Trout Unlimited Chapter meetings are the third Thursday of the month except June and July. These monthly meetings are always informative with lots of sharing about tips and techniques.

Meetings are in person and alternate locations from Covenant Presbyterian in Charlotte, Hop Fly Brewing, and Orvis - Charlotte

Open to everyone, not just club members, must buy ticket to participate in auctions, raffles and food.

The 2026 Carolina Fly Fishing Club Annual Picnic is a highly anticipated event that offers a variety of activities for participants to enjoy. The picnic will feature hot dogs and hamburgers. Bring your favorite side dish or dessert.

In addition to the lunch, there will be raffles and silent auctions that offer a chance to win some fantastic prizes.

Michael Helms will be providing casting games that will be open to all participants. These games offer a fun way to hone your casting skills and compete against others. Additionally, prizes will be awarded to the best overall performers and several runners-up. Bring your rod, some poppers, and fish in the pond!

For those interested in fly tying, there will also be a clinic held by Bill Jewett in the classroom. This clinic will give participants the chance to learn how to tie an “ugly” fly and earn a door prize.

Overall, the 2026 Carolina Fly Fishing Club Annual Picnic promises to be a fantastic event that offers something for everyone. Whether you’re interested in casting or fly tying or just want to have fun, this picnic is an excellent opportunity to make new friends and enjoy some exciting activities in a beautiful setting.
