WHERE WE WILL MEET:

The Port Moody Recreation Complex and walk to the site (viewing platform/foot bridge area (see map) north side of the trail

GETTING THERE:

Please reduce your ecological footprint by using:

• Transit. To find out the best route from where you are click: http://www.translink.bc.ca

• Carpool. Leave a message at the bottom of this page if you need a ride. Don't forget to chip in for gas ($5 for every hour of drive is about right)

YOUR DUTIES

• Safely and effectively remove invasive plants that threaten our native plants and trees manually (we'll show you!)
• Carry tools and supplies to the site to and from the meeting spot
• Use hand tools safely and responsibly, and return them

FLOW OF ACTIVITY

• Meet at 9.45am (please don't be late)
• Sign in on your phone or our tablet
• Walk to Site (follow arrows if you're late)
• Remove English Ivy and blackberry
• Take a break (yummy refreshments time!)
• Volunteer until 1 pm
• Sign out on your phone or our tablet

WHAT TO BRING

• Refillable water bottle
• Rain jacket in case it rains
• If it's sunny bring a hat and sunscreen
• Your own gardening gloves if you prefer them (we provide them otherwise)
• Wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty
• Long sleeves and long pants to protect you from thorny plants and ticks
• Sturdy, comfortable closed toe shoes/boots. Gum boots work too!

WHAT WILL BE PROVIDED TO YOU:

• Training will be provided on the day
• Gardening gloves
• Tools
• Refreshments (often juices, fruits, veggies, energy bars and cookies)
• A small thank you gift at the end, often donated by a business

WHAT HAPPENS AFTERWARDS?

• We'll send you a survey to ask for your feedback
• A volunteer letter will be emailed to you on request

Shoreline Trail is located along the shores of the Burrard Inlet. It is home to species of insects and invertebrates. There is wildlife such as coyotes, raccoons, and deer, Herons, eagles and osprey
