Today's theme: BE HEARD! Spoken Word for Activists
http://photos3.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/4/7/0/6/event_221598182.jpegEducation is being cut. Racial profiling is running rampant. Wars wage abroad, seemingly without end. There is an endless attack on our civil liberties. Poverty and hunger increase daily. How will we speak for social justice in our communities and around the globe?
Be Heard! Spoken Word for Activists focuses on the importance of freedom of expression and connecting the personal with the political. Students learn how to incorporate spoken word within the culture of their activism; cultivating an environment in which all are free to share the issues that concern them.
Learn how to write poetry that reflects the call and response structure of protest chants. Develop confidence in your beliefs and deliver your list of demands via poetry with passion, intelligence and swag.
