Navigating Russia Sanctions When Raising Investment
Details
Buckworths is a law firm based in London working exclusively with startups and high growth businesses operating in the UK.
## About this event
As a result of the war in Ukraine, the UK and EU government have imposed sanctions on persons with a connection to Russia. These sanctions can impact UK businesses seeking to raise investment in several ways. To assist our clients, and more broadly, the start-up ecosystem, we are holding a FREE virtual event on Tuesday 5 April, 12:30pm GMT.
We will cover the following topics:
- An overview of the current UK Russia sanctions regime
- Issues to be considered by UK companies with Russian resident shareholders seeking to raise investment
- Issues to be considered by UK companies intending to take investment from Russian resident individuals and companies
- Issues to be considered by shareholders wishing to buy or sell shares from or to Russian resident individuals and companies
- The importance of identifying the residency of your shareholders and carrying out anti-money laundering checks on investors
- The session will conclude with an open Q&A session.
Presenter and founder of Buckworths, Michael Buckworth is also the author of Built on Rock, the entrepreneur's legal guide to start-up success. Advising on the risks and pitfalls to avoid when setting up your own business, this book makes the complicated aspects of start-up law simple.
