EVOLUTION: THE FOSSIL EVIDENCE - A PowerPoint presentation by Robert Richert

Details

Our speaker this month is no stranger to the Orange County Humanists. In his last visit as an invited speaker, Robert Richert shared his experiences as an ‘atheist in a foxhole’ in Vietnam. This time Robert will speak about a subject he cares about deeply – evolution.

Bob belongs to the Orange County Speaker’s Bureau, a group of topflight speakers. Two years ago, Robert was voted unanimously as a professional caliber speaker by a tough, discerning panel of expert judges. One of his goals is to use his talent for public speaking to bring freethought ideas and evolution to a wider audience.

Like most of you, Robert is frustrated by the persistent efforts of Creationists to insert their religiously based ideas into our public school science classes. He believes that evolution should be taught unapologetically and vigorously in our schools. Although Bob is not a professional biologist, he is passionate about the subject of evolution and has read many articles, books, and seldom misses a TV program about the subject. Yet, despite his knowledge and passion about evolution, it was only recently that Robert became aware of the fact that there are far more examples of transitional forms between species in the fossil record than even he was aware! In fact, many biologists and Humanists are unaware of this amazing evidence, not to mention the general public! On October 16th, Robert will bridge this gap by sharing a PowerPoint presentation showing many transitions between species.

We think you will find Mr. Richert’s talk enlightening and entertaining.

As usual our program allows for a Q&A period following the presentation.
