Tinkermill is proud to announce the FIRST knife making class for the Blacksmithing Studio! This class DOES require some hand forging experience. (101 class as a prerequisite or previous experience). Master Bladesmith, C. Shark Lambdin and Shop Captain, Kamber Sokulsky, will be co teaching this class. It is scheduled from 10 am to 3 pm ( but may run over). We will be forging a "fisherman's knife" from coil spring. We will be forging, grinding and heat treating. We will cover striking techniques and working in striking teams. (This IS a very physical class, but that being said, ladies, don't say away!)
We will cover basic mettalurgy, sourcing materials, (both on line and junk yard style) grinding, heat treating and how to make a good knife with limited resources. This class will probably not repeat until mid spring and is expected to fill up. Ages: 13 - 18 must have a parent in attendance for the duration of the class. (Note: the parent does not have to TAKE the class, just be in attendance). Please note: This class is subject to change for inclement weather. We forge if it's cold! We forge if it's snowing. (But ice or trechorous conditions will create a change in schedule). Looking for an AMAZING Christmas present? Sign up now! This is a unique opportunity to work with a master bladesmith and further your blacksmithing skills. (Please note:. We intend for everyone to finish their knife the day if the class. But since everyone works at a different speed, please know if you do NOT finish you MUST be a Tinkermill member AND have completed the Blacksmithing Safety Class before you can work in the studio solo). . If you have any questions, please contact the Shop Captain, Kamber Sokulsky. Happy hammering and we look forward to seeing you!
