If you had a surprise day off work tomorrow, what would you WANT do? Would you want to kayak on Mt. Island Lake? Hike up Mt. Mitchell? SUP and chill? Marvel at the sensory explosion that is a Full Moon hike? Latta Outdoor Adventures is the group where people just like you come to find out what Outdoor Adventures are being offered RIGHT NOW at Latta Nature Preserve! We will keep you posted on all the programs for age 12 to Adult. Some are FREE meet-ups. Some cost a few bucks. Don’t have your own gear? No problem. That’s why we are here. Book a tour with us and let the Outdoor Recreation Specialists at Latta do the heavy lifting, literally. Stride along the trails of Latta Nature Preserve and observe its quiet magic throughout the seasons. A skilled naturalist volunteer will accompany you to spark your curiosity in nature and answer questions about the neat plants and animals you’ll see.
This is a moderate, brisk hike. Be prepared to cover up to 4 miles in two hours. Hike will start no later than 9:05am at a new location each time.

Dip through coves and spot lake-side herons on a guided tour of Mountain Island Lake. Our ACA certified staff are there to provide an enjoyable experience for paddlers of all skill levels. All equipment is provided.

Spend the day adventuring with a hike at Forty Acre Rock Heritage Preserve. We will hike over granite flatrocks, along waterfalls, and next to beaver dams. This out-and-back hike is approximately 4 miles round trip with 350 feet of elevation gain. This trail is considered a moderate trail. Bring a lunch to enjoy on the trail. Transportation included!
