When: Thursday, April 16th. We will meet at the Summit Sno-Park/Trailhead at 8:30am and leave the trailhead by 4:30pm.
Where: Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) with access from Summit Sno-Park/Trailhead near Lake of the Woods, OR. You can view the area on this digital topographical map. Please note some of the map features are a work in progress (I.e. dates to project trails).
Who: Volunteers from Siskiyou Mountain Club and Klamath Trails Alliance will work side by side with support from USFS Fremont-Winema recreation staff on a variety of tasks to maintain and improve conditions.
Meet:
SMC Shuttle from Gold Hill: A shuttle vehicle will leave Gold Hill, OR at 7am on Thursday morning and will return by 6pm on Thursday evening. You can park your car and hop in our shuttle vehicle from the SMC facility in Gold Hill (7:00am) or meet up at Coastal in White City (7:30am)Meet at the Trailhead: Meet us at the Summit Sno-Park/Trailhead at 8:30am.
The Project:
No experience needed, first timers and beginners welcome on this day trip!From the Summit Sno-Park/Trailhead we will hike north along the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT), into the Sky Lakes Wilderness Area, clearing downed trees and digging out drainage systems.
Crew members will work collaboratively in small teams with crosscut saws to clear downed logs, and digging implements to clear drainage systems.
We'll take advantage of early season access to start this project which will be the first of a series of trail projects in the southern Sky Lakes Wilderness in 2026.
