5:30-6:00pm Food

6:00-8:00pm Speaker: Stephen Visser

Speaker Bio:

Since graduating from Computer Engineering in 2008, Stephen has developed for web & mobile development across Alberta. His passion is building usable, innovative mobile apps, with a particular interest in Swift. He also has formal training in the process of ideating and prototyping and volunteers to teach students about robotics in his spare time.

Abstract:

Reactive Extensions enables a whole new way to develop. Modelling applications as operations on events over time makes programs more robust, comprehensible and reduces dependence on mutable state. These benefits explain why Rx can now be used in nearly every major programming language and has many advocates. Stephen will build a basic app using Rx and demonstrate how powerful a tool Rx can be.
