Your AI agent can already search the web, write code and fill in forms. The next step is paying for things on its own: a weather feed, a data lookup, a job done by another agent. Each payment is tiny, often a fraction of a cent, and card payments can't handle amounts that small. So agents are starting to pay with digital money that runs on a blockchain, such as Bitcoin or digital dollars (called stablecoins).
CfB's blockchain expert, Todd Price, will show us how this works, and we'll spend most of the night hands-on, trying it out with our preferred coding agents. Todd will give everyone a few cents in bitcoin, which is enough for a lot of very small payments. You'll use it the way an agent would: pay to unlock content, pay for AI services other people have built, pay other people in the room, and pay a small circuit board to switch on its light.
Guest presenter Brendan Lee will also show how to get an AI agent to build a smart contract, which is a small program that runs on the blockchain and keeps track of its own data.
If you build things with AI agents, this is useful to know now. Sooner or later your agent will need to pay for data or a service, and you'll want it to do that without your credit card details. It works in the other direction too. If you've built something people or agents want, you can charge a fraction of a cent each time someone uses it, and a card payment can't do that.
You don't need to know anything about blockchain or crypto, and you don't need to buy any. Bring your laptop, and your AI agent so you can follow along and try it out.
