What we’re about
Looking for a meaningful volunteer opportunity?
All you need is your brain, your passion, and your openness when you come to SF Civic Tech's (formerly Code for San Francisco's) weekly Hack Night. We welcome all interested people, including residents, activists, business folk, designers, and developers. No need for tech experience of any kind!
You'll be surrounded by folks who are interested in working together to change The City for the better. We fix government services, create insightful visualizations from opened data, and engage people who may have been excluded from the economic boom in the Bay Area. Come by to join an existing project (we need ALL types of skills - not just coders), to pitch your own project, or simply to experience the global movement to change the areas in which we live for the better.
Find us at SFCivicTech.org or join our virtual Wednesday Civic Tech Hack Nights!

- Civic Hack Night w/ Technologists for the Public GoodLink visible for attendees
Join colleagues in public interest tech for a night of learning, networking, and civic hacking online or in-person at the Github community space!
You'll hear from three cross sector professionals on how to document, pitch, and present your work in public interest tech followed by open, community conversation with key questions such as:
- How do you document your work as well as pitch in-person
- How do you not expose your organization, but talk about what went well and what didn’t work well
- How do you present a civic tech presentation at a non-civic tech conference (or aka pitching your work to folks not in civic tech)
Light snacks and drinks to be provided.
Dedicated space will also be provided for anyone looking to co-work on any projects, and teams can also meet as usual in breakout rooms at: https://c4sf.me/zoom
