What we’re about

We are a group for anyone interested in traditional Scottish dance and music. Scottish country dance is sometimes called "the ballroom dancing of Scotland" -- it's a social dance form in which square dancing and contra dancing have their origins. It is also a great form of exercise and aerobic activity. It is practiced world-wide -- learn to dance here in Pittsburgh and you can attend social dance events the world over! Come for a fun-filled evening of social dance. You don't need a partner. You don't need any particular attire (although comfortable soft-soled shoes are a plus). You don't need to be Scottish. Beginners are always welcome! Our classes meet Mondays and Saturdays, except during the summer. We begin at 7 PM with instruction on the basic steps and figures for beginning dancers.

As with many dance groups, we have taken a break to help minimize pandemic spread. We had hoped to return to classes in August 2021, but the Covid numbers have climbed too high again. We have cancelled/delayed classes through at least September 2021. We will revisit the decision monthly about whether or not to return to classes the following month. Keep an eye here or at our website for updates. If you would like to be added to our email notification list, please go to our website and follow the "contact us" information.
